Are you or are your tenants behind in rent?  The Department of Health & Human Services COVID Rent Relief Program will release details to help those in need in a press conference today, April 26th, 2021.

This is the third phase of the COVID Rent Relief Program. While funds are available, the program will provide up to $12,000 in rent relief for eligible households that can be used for rent arrears and a rent credit for future months.  The program is funded through a $59 million in Department of the Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance Funds, provided to the County through direct Federal and State allocations.

The full program details, flyers in multiple languages, extensive set of FAQs, and the online submission link are on their website.

Households must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:

  • Have experienced a loss of income due to COVID-19
  • Gross household income from previous 30 days at or below 50% of AMI (see the table on their website)
  • Have been a Montgomery County resident since at least August 2020
  • Owe at least $1,000 or more to the current landlord

Landlords have requirements to participate too. See the website for more details.  The health and well-being of families in Montgomery County is a concern for all of us. Please spread the word about this program to those you know who may have a need.
