Bethesda Metro at Night

Bethesda Metro at Night

Bethesda is ideally located near major Metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C. and Baltimore and is only a 4-hour drive to New York City.  Below you will find links to local bus, DC Metro line and Airport services as well as bus services that offer non-stop trips to/from New York City and Bethesda.

Metro Rail and Ride On Bus

The Bethesda area is well served by public transportation.  The Washington DC Metro services two stops in Bethesda on the RED LINE – the downtown Bethesda area (on Wisconsin Ave./East-West Highway) and a stop near the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed Medical Center.
In addition to the Metro rail, Montgomery County also provides a bus service that runs all over town and feeds to the Metro stations.  The service is called the Ride On bus.  For the current schedule, check the Montgomery County Department of Transportation website (MCDOT).

Bethesda Circulator – Free Bus Service

Another convenient and FREE way to get around downtown Bethesda is to utilize the Bethesda Circulator, a free bus service managed by the non-profit, Bethesda Urban Partnership.  With approximately 20 stops all over town, the free circulator is a great transportation option for our town.  The bus runs every day except Sundays.  Monday through Thursday until midnight and Friday and Saturday through 2:00 AM for those late-night binges!

Bus to and from New York City ….. Direct!

Perhaps you want to get out of town and head to New York for the weekend.  Well, our town has that covered too!  There are two bus services to choose from that offer DIRECT non-stop service to downtown New York City with several departures daily.  Vamoose Bus will drop off/pick up from Pennsylvania Station in New York.  Tripper Bus goes straight from Bethesda to/from Macy’s 34th Street Store in New York City.  In 4 hours, you’ll be enjoying all that New York has to offer!
