Wood Acres Community
Wood Acres Neighborhood is truly special – a one-of-kind community where neighbors share holiday celebrations and summer picnics together and visit regularly at the local community park with its playground and tennis courts. The annual 4th of July celebration is famous and know as the highlight of the year – patriotism and community spirit abound with a parade with homemade floats and a sea of red, white and blue.
Due to the architectural covenants of the community in place since its inception and the services of the all-volunteer Wood Acres Citizens Association (WACA), the character of the original 400 homes built throughout the 1940’s and 1950’s has been lovingly preserved. A drive through Wood Acres is like a step back in time to a Norman Rockwell painting. Good ole’ Santa Claus even visits Wood Acres at Christmas. There is a reason why this well-located, convenient community off Massachusetts Ave is one of the most popular areas to live in Bethesda. Of course, the award-winning schools including Woodacres Elementary, Thomas W. Pyle Middle and Walt Whitman High School are just another reason to want to call this place home!
