Blue Mercury - Bethesda Row

Calling all beauty junkies…or wanna-be junkies, like me!  If you ever thought to yourself, ‘I need something for my skin, hair or body to improve this, that or the other thing, but I don’t know what to get’, well then Blue Mercury is your answer.
Blue Mercury offers two Bethesda locations including 7105 Bethesda Lane (Bethesda Row) and another in the Wildwood Shopping Center off Old Georgetown Rd.  Although the company is not unique to our area (there are 30 locations in several states), the very first store was opened in Georgetown about 10 years ago and the company founders, Barry and Marla Beck, are Bethesda residents.
Like many “Housewives of Bethesda,”  Marla has an impressive resume including an MBA from Harvard and a B.A. in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of California, Berkeley, among other accolades.  She and her husband are amazing entrepreneurs who truly understood how to turn their vision into a hugely successful business because they identified a need in the marketplace.
Blue Mercury was created to serve as a local neighborhood shop where you can get honest, helpful advice and purchase high quality, luxury beauty products.  The employees are terrific at helping you discover solutions to your beauty needs and they provide real advice (not salesy hype) with a no pressure approach.  Want to try some samples before you commit?  No problem.
Now I sound like the salesy person, but I must admit that my experience at their shop has broadened my beauty horizons!  At my age, I’m looking for new tips and tricks to combat the forces of nature.  Before Blue Mercury, I bought all my beauty products at the drug store (lame, I know).  And let me tell you, the scruffy dude stocking the shelves or working the register just doesn’t give out good beauty advice!  At the mall stores, I just feel pressured and I’m not sure what brand is best for me.  But Blue Mercury brings it all together in one place with friendly, helpful staff and lots of options to suit various types of people and budgets.

A Peek in the Store

Blue Mercury has a mega-list of their available brands on their website such as Bliss, Acqua di Parma, Fresh, Bobbi Brown, Kiehl’s and so many more.  Anything you could possibly want for your skin, hair or body – they offer it.  They even have a pet care line!  And don’t be fooled into thinking this store is just for women – oh no, not at all!  Bring your “Metro man” in for an excellent line of shaving creams, skin & hair products, cologne and more.
What I found most intriguing about Blue Mercury – other than the helpful beauty advice – is their spa!  Ahhhh, just thinking about a massage causes a wave a relation to come over me.  The Bethesda Lane location has a luxury spa awaiting you – facials, massages and more.  Ladies, you deserve it!  Perhaps for Mother’s Day, you can create your wish list on-line and send it to your honey.
Beauty junkie or not, I bet you’ll get hooked, like I did, and come home with your own shiny blue bag of goodies!   ~Amy
